A house and a half on Beara peninsula, hotel in Castletownbere

A house and a half on Beara peninsula offers accommodations in Castletownbere, 2.9 miles from Dunboy Castle and 2.9 miles from Puxley Castle.

Great location, short walk into the town. Great to have a space for our sole use. Fresh milk, tea, coffee and sugar were supplied which was a lovely touch. We stayed in early Feb so it was chilly. I believe underfloor heating is being added soon. There is no connecting door between the living area/bedroom and the very large bathroom. This wasn’t a big issue for us but may be an issue for others. There was a great large walk in shower

New business venture, and Caroline was a fabulous host! Short walk to McCarthy's bar, and, yes, there *is* a Harbour view. Caroline and her husband were great after we suffered a mishap, bringing in a tray of tea and cakes. Breakfast was great (Continental, but don't let that put you off). Close by to all the great sights on the Beara peninsula. Stay here!!!

Castletownbere is a fabulous place to visit.

Castletownbere is a fabulous place to visit. It is such a good base making it very easy to visit surrounding areas including Garnish, Dursry Island, Glengariff, Bantry, Kenmare and so on. There is also an excellent rural bus service now which is great for people that don’t drive and it runs all through the year There is a good variety of shops to visit and some lovely little pubs and bars including the fabulous McCarthys which has a lot of character and has a little shop inside, a great place to visit. Then there’s Harrington’s store and you can but almost anything there including little gifts to take home. Lynch’s is a lovely place to eat and do lovely food including vegetarian options. There are lots of hairdresser and beauty studios if needed

There is so much to do in this area.

There is so much to do in this area. Beautiful gardens you could spend half a day if not a full day. Scenery will exceed all your expectations. I have travelled all over the world and reland still remains the most beautiful country. The food in the pubs we randomly went into was lovely and fairly priced.

Castletownbere is a lovely fishing town in the south west of Ireland. It has a number of great cafes and restaurants. In addition to being a very picturesque place, it is within deriving distance of everywhere on the amazing Bear peninsula, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful places to see in Ireland.

A beautiful B&B located in a quiet yet wonderful location easily accessible by car (not sure about another mode of transport as I used my own car). The place was kept in excellent condition and the room had all the necessary amenities. The toilet was good and had all the required toiletries and fresh towels. The view from our room was lovely, especially in the morning. The breakfast served was good too. It is close to a lot of beautiful scenic gems along the west of cork. Ideal location if you are planning a ring of Beara trip.

Without a doubt, the best B&B in all of Beara. Beautiful room, great location, and the hotel is staffed by angels - Michelle, Lorna and all the staff put in so much effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The food is absolutely divine - unparalleled breakfast, and the Tea Room serves the best cake we've ever eaten. If you wish to explore the Beara Peninsula, make the Old Medical Hall your base of operations.

Everything was lovely. Denis the host is gracious & helpful — as needed. The location is terrific for getting out & about in the town of Castletownbere, with a wonderful view across the bay to Bere Island. The breakfast each morning is sumptuous, cold cuts, fruit salad, freshly baked bread, eggs & sausage on weekends. There's even a small library of books about the West Cork region.

The property is beautifully situated outside of Castletownbere. It has a small private cove suitable for walking. Visited over Easter and there were no on-site shop or restaurant facilities. The cottage was not very clean with some built up staining on doors and windows had some mould.
